pat

"Vale, vale" were the first words that Patrick said to me, back in 1999 when I met him. He was mocking me for a reply i gave to one of the other spanish students that, like me, were attending the exchange program in Orillia.
I had never before talked to this boy and there he was, jokingly imitating me with a big wide smile. If i remember correctly, i simply smiled back, said yeah, and walked away, but from that day he'd say "hello" to me everytime we'd pass by each other like it was the most natural thing to do. A couple of days after, we somehow started talking and gave each other our emails and addresses, as my day for returning back home was close.
Then the emails started and to make a long story sort I'll just say i kind of fell for this kid and he was one of the reasons why I went back to Canada on the summer of 2001.
Thanks partially to him i went back to a country i now feel part of and am in love with. Thanks partially to him i got even closer to a family that i now consider my own. And even if it were just for that i wouldn't be able to thank him enough.

Now im not gonna be able to thank him. Ever. Not for that. Nor for anything.

Now he's gone. And Im out of words.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends. He's going to be missed by many.

Rest In Peace Pat.

vacation!

Im going to the beach from Wednesday to Sunday with my sister, which means seeing friends and paying Barcelona a visit, a city I love.
It's not what i had initially planned for the long weekend, but it will be fun nonetheless. And im pretty excited.

Also, did i mention im going to LA in March?
NHL games, Santa Monica, Universal City, Malibu, Orange County, Hollywood ...
Yay! Yay!

sport fan

I understood the other day what it probably feels like to be a fan of the Atletico de Madrid.
It can't be much different from being a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. They never do too good but you still support them till the end. And you never lose the hope that they will eventually hit a winning streak and even make it to the playoffs. And maybe even win the cup one day. Like next June.
Oh, dreaming, what an awesome thing to do.
