DGT 0 - SUSA 1

I'm half a driver now.
Theoretical part, passed. The license is just 1/2 away.
I can't wait for the driving classes. Gears, clutch, speed.

And talking about speed. I got NFSU today. It's already installed. Jay and I are gonna have fun.
Gran Turismo can go to hell.

Congrats, now you're one step closer. Practice classes are kinda cool, personally I enjoyed them a lot. Man, was that a long time ago... I'm getting old ;) However I failed my first practice exam... what a blow. But anyway, it's pretty common, and that was a long time ago.

BTW, NFSU is nice, but I think it's absurdly difficult. I mean, not VERY difficult but ABSURDLY difficult. Once you get a Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec2 maxed out, it really doesn't get any better than that, but you are NEVER any better compared to your opponents. The opponents get better depending on your car's performance, not how far you're into the game. Actually if you DOWNGRADE your car you can see how you can win races easier (I've done it). Moreover, races are always decided in the last quarter lap; no matter how good you've done, if you crash in the last quarter lap you're toast because you don't gain any advantege along the race; but if you do horribly at the beginning, the opponents wait for you all the time and you may eventually win if you do a good last couple of laps. NOS is only useful in the last lap. Bah. I gave up around mission 70 or 80 out of 113 or so.

NFSU2 is better in that respect. Races are a lot more balanced and you can make good races and crash a little at the end and not lose it all. NOS is gained during races so it makes more sense to use it all along. And the Dolby Pro-Logic II surround sound is just AWESOME. Personally I like it better than NFSU. Gotta show you my tuned RX-8... really kinky xD Although what I use is a beautiful, fully tuned, electric-blue Skyline ;)

Gran Turismo is a totally different beast. I recently got GT4 and it's nice. A lot more realistic and somewhat more boring if you're not into it, and it lacks Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsches, etc; but it's a nice game, a lot better than NFSU in many respects. And it's INFINITE. I understand why you prefer NFS; it's more enjoyable in general. Is that what you want? Wanna have some fun with a driving game on the PS2? Get Burnout 3 then. It absolutely ROCKS. Trust me. Really. ;) It doesn't get any more fun than that. It's absolutely no simulator, but it's just great.

Anyway I have high respect to the NFS franchise since I began playing Need For Speed (the original) a long time ago. I loved NFS: Porsche Unleashed, and enjoyed NFS: Hot Pursuit a lot. But they are simply a different kind of game :)

Well... 'nuff said. HAve fun though; it's really cool to hear that you enjoy that kind of games. I told you... telecom girls are cool xD

warm regards

I posted a comment more than 245h ago, and it appears again when I add this comment... but it doesn't appear in your blog. Go figure :)

Aniway, maybe this weeping comment triggers the publishing of the previous one... let's try xD

hey! i was starting to miss you comments! :-)

I'm not a big fan of videogames, i only enjoy easy games every once in a while, but i got totally hooked to NFSU. My car still looks bad, i didn't even unlock the pink neon yet, but i'll keep playing. U know if the vinyls get any better? i can only use white ones that look pretty bad.
Thats true what you said about the last quarter lap, and im one of those who crash into a car or tree on the very last moment. booo me!
I'll try to downgrade the car, hope it works. A few days ago i got a message saying i had to upgrade it to race cause the opponets had better cars.
we'll see.

I have GT2 for PS1 (wow, that sounds freaky), i've only played a few times, but i didnt really like it. maybe if i get the money to buy a good car..

About Burnout 3, i'll give it a try. Sounds good. is it out for computers? i dont have PS2.

And... I wanna see your cars. I'll take a pic of my not-kicking-too-much-ass-yet honda civic and send it tonight. I hope to get yours ASAP. :-P

take care!

ps. weeping comment worked!!

/blush x)

Yes, vinyls get a lot better. There's a lot of plain ones, but with time you get some artistic ones (skulls, ninjas and that kind of l33t tun3r stuff xD). Personally I don't like them too much, but you've got to use them to get "prestige" points...

The downgrading trick DOES work however. If you downgrade your tires, for example, the opponents downgrade them too. So if you drive well at "normal" speeds but you suck at high speeds, it's easier for you and you've got better chances of winning ;) I did that a couple of times. I remember this race where I tried tens of times, with different cars and driving differently (around level 60 or so) and it was just impossible. I put on normal tyres and downgraded suspensions and engine a bit, and won easily. That's the kind of things that annoy me in games... that, and the "last lap is all" thingy. Nice looking game but with some flaws. Upgrading is neccessary, but there's a point where the car gets SO good that it's counterproductive for you, since opponents are almost perfect and you're less perfect at high speeds x)

GT2 for the PS1... ouch! xD no, really; GT3 and GT4 on the PS2 are really a quantum leap, so no wonder why you like NFSU a lot more. I thought you were playing on PS2 though... I've played all of the NFS series on PC save for both NFSUs, but my PC does no longer cut it x)

Anyway GT is a different kind of game, regardless of platforms. And no, Burnout 3 is not out for PC, it's PS2-only... get one, they are cheap and you'd gain a few points in your nerd-o-meter xD If you like simple games, this is definetly your game. Pure fun. It doesn't get any simpler than that. One of the few PS2 games that's got me screaming "yaheeeeee!!!" from time to time after winning a race of taking down another car XD (DOUBLE TAKEDOWN! TRIPLE TAKEDOWN!! TAKEDOWN MADNESSSSS!!! xD)

About the car pics; okay, I can try to get a couple of shots with the digicam, one of the NFSU car and a couple more of the NFSU2 ones. I don't know if I'll find a way to upload them somehow, though XD

And the weeping comment... no, it didn't. I posted both comments about 4-5 days ago and they appeared today. go figure ;)

Have fun! And VROOOM, VROOOOOOM!!!!! x)
